You're not talking about these parents and yet... here we are. Part of our culture's sharpening its individualistic sword to a fine sharp tip is that everyone eventually gets cut.

You do hit on some basic points that are endemic to American society, now more than ever. We've never particularly liked our elderly. (Except their money; we like old money.) And there are plenty of vile parents, no question, and maybe they don't deserve the love and support of their adult children. I'm okay with that.

I'm also equally okay with the parents of some good for nothing 18 year old slacker who sucked ass in school, has no life plan, no ambition, no job, no nothing to get the hell out of my house and take your negativity with you. The parent could say: "You didn't ask to be born, true. So that's why I raised you and fed your ass till you were an adult. I warned you to get a plan and figure shit out. I even tried to help you, but you back talked me and said 'Okay, boomer, whatever.' Now I must insist: Get out of my house."

I'm okay with it going both ways. Parents: stop being douchbags. Gen Alpha and Z: same goes for you!
