You ascribe an awful lot of power to the vice presidency. You and others also see Kamala and Joe as monolithic. You write as though she were really driving the White House the whole time, instead of sitting in the passenger seat the whole while. In fact, I wonder if the chief of staff doesn't actually have more power over the presidency than the vice president. Should we give Pence much more credit--and blame--for the successes and failures of Trump's first term?
