Yes, and if you don't join the rat race, the other rats exclude you fast. I'm something of a parish at my school now. I really did, at the beginning of my career, want to be an invaluable part of my school system. Then I learned, pretty quickly, that if you dare to question who's pulling the levers behind the curtain, you get shunned. Even my own colleagues have told me to be quiet and get with the program. It's a weird system. If it weren't for the fact I truly love teaching kids, I'd have been out a long time ago.
