Yep. And this is why, after 18 years of special education teaching, I'm probably getting out at the end of the year. I have a student this year in my co-taught special Ed second grade class who curses non stop, throws chairs or books or whatever he can get his hands on, and disrupts learning daily for everyone. I know it's my job to only care about him and my colleague's job to care about the gen Ed kids, but I just can't have him in my class anymore. As soon as I hit the green arrow button to the right of this response, I'm emailing my principal, sped chair, and the school psychologist and counselor, with a summation of the behavior data I've been collecting for the past five weeks. Dozens of violent outbursts and numerous times that the other kids say they're afraid of him. It's a no brainer that he should be placed in a self contained room now. Will they? I'm willing to test my tenure on it. The good of the many has to mean something...otherwise what's the point of public education?
