We have no gatekeepers anymore. The people in charge of what came on your nightly news or in your morning newspapers no longer have a stranglehold on what we, as Americans, consume on a daily basis. We could always find out the truth before, we just had to dig a little harder, i.e., visit a libary and a read by Chomsky, Postman, Zinn, and many others of their ilk. Now, everyone thinks they are Chomsky because they have an opinion. Everyone wants to be a writer, and thinks they're a writer, because there are platforms online. This is a problem just as much as it's liberating. Smart people both recognize that fact and know how to tell the difference.
