We have a tendency to ascribe grand and noble traits to our fellow human beings. People are neither grand nor noble. They elected Trump because he'll own the libs. They elected Trump because they're mad and confused about the price of milk and eggs in the grocery store. They elected Trump because it felt right because it seemed smart. People just want to feel smart, feel like winners, feel like they have someone protecting them. We are all grown up children.

Deep in all humans is a strong desire for a philosopher king to protect and lead us. To take the burden from us and decide what is best. A monarch. That's the character that Trump plays so well. "I'll take care of the women even if they don't want it," says a king. "Leave it me, I'll fix it," promises a monarch. And the mob loves him for it.
