Public school teacher here in New York State. We've never taught CRT as it's one of those post modernist theories that are discussed and debated at law universities. We shouldn't begin to teach it either. We DO teach our students about the contributions of many African-American men and women in our society and facts about the pre-civil rights era and the stunning inequity back then. We shoot ourselves in the foot by taking about CRT. I say this as a liberal: it does not belong in public schools as a curriculum or anything like that because social justice theory has no curriculum. It's an idea for which many youngsters are not equipped to handle or understand. That said, ALL students from K-12 should be educated on the aforementioned contributions as an antidote to racist teachings they hear from other places, like home. They also should learn about race and evolution through a scientific lens-- It makes racism absurd and illogical.
