Nothing is as bad as it first seems but nothing is ever as good as advertised. That seems to fit the bill for most events in life. That root canal? Not as terrible as I thought. That vacation in Maine? Fun, but not mind blowing.

Climate change however is something different. For some folks, it'll be a long time until they see the effects. For others, they'll feel it immediately. Terrorism and war will break out over this, but only in pockets. Depression and anxiety will soar in first world countries, as will suicides. It'll be ugly as we roast. But it'll be slow. It won't seem too bad at first or too terrible.
