January 6th is what you get when the conned realized they were conned. Or maybe the deeper story is why these people bled and even died for a con artist. What it says about us as a country is that we have no more dreams, no more narrative to hold us together, no worthwhile mythologies to inspire us. We used to adore hard work in the beginning of this nation's history. Now that the nation is built, there seems to be ... not enough to do. The human spirit needs to soar, to achieve, to dream, to aspire, and to conquer. We seem to have none of that left... or do we? Of course there are still goals aplenty to work towards (climate change, anyone?), but we don't have leaders to show us the way. I don't know. It's all a friggin' mess.
