I've been a public school teacher for the past eighteen years. I've taught at every level from K-8. I'm not surprised in the slightest that school isn't listed as a vital factor to becoming a genius. If I had a child who was deeply curious about the world and showed an almost genious ability at problem solving, I'd find a way to keep him or her out of public school. Or I'd send them to public school and tell them, "This is the greatest challenge of your life. Find a way to not be pulled down by the idiocy of those around you. Spend time with your teachers--but only the ones you sense are truly intelligent--and forget what the other kids are saying about you. This time in your life is transitory. You'll spend most of your life as an adult and NOT around other children."
