While we obsess on the left with making the right as polite as us, they're going scorched earth. Our answer has been to double down on politeness. So we lose elections and cede power. Logical rationales for a more equitable, free society can be made without value judgments and ad hominem attacks against the other. We're going to have two battles to fight-- the intolerance on the left AND on the right--if we don't simmer down. The institutionalized racism in this country is real and its dangerous but critical social theory is the wrong mindset to attack it with.
