I was in high school math class one day when it all went down.

As I sat in the back of the room daydreaming, I watched one of the boys in the class snap the girl’s bra in front of him. In a flash, she turned around and slapped him across the face. The class, after a brief initial shock, erupted in laughter. Even the teacher fought to hide a grin as he admonished both of them for the outburst. The palm-shaped redness on the chagrined boy’s cheek grew by the second.

Or maybe, at some point in the past when she was just a little girl, her home had been burned to the ground, her brothers and sisters murdered, and her extended family forced into diaspora. Maybe she longs to return to the place she once called home. If so, then we should have all piled on that son of a bitch for snapping her bra, because her over-the-top slap now makes a ton more sense. And…
