I'm 52 and can relate to a lot of what you're saying. There has been more and more an outcry against people doing things for each other and instead focusing just on oneself. Except in a world of 7 billion people all jockeying for attention and position, "oneself" can get lost pretty quick. We need each other, our families, our friends, our connections in high school and college. The rich know that and they make them. The rest of us are told to be an individual and do things for ourselves. It's a lie.
