Good points. Though I don't teach what you do, teachers should never shy away from exposing students to the classics (or anything else that's "hard" but worthwhile). Here in the States it seems we water down so much curriculum in the interest of "tailoring it to our students' needs," that the point of the whole endeavor is lost.
