Fantastic article. As an elementary teacher, I can vouch that math instruction is still stuck in the Sputnik era, even though we tell ourselves it isn't. It takes honest introspection and a desire to do what is truly right to change anything in American public education. Unfortunately, the Big Lie is much more convenient.
