Before you get back to me with advice, which I am eager to hear, I should point out that the students I work with have been violent, loud and shouting obscenities, in a second grade mainstream classroom with a ratio of 3:1 regular Ed to special Ed population. One of those students struck me repeatedly on Friday after throwing a chair that narrowly missed another kid's head. Another little girl in this class screams, throws chairs, and throws things at me and the gen Ed teacher. A third child has severe ADHD and talks non-stop in class. A fourth is undiagnosed but a clear low-functioning autistic student (though not diagnosed.) There's no ratio aide in the room. What do you think? In my 18 years as a special Ed teacher, I've never seen things this bad.
