As a special education public school teacher who works with autistic children I can tell you that it is no light and easy thing to just accept things as they are. Students with autism need accommodations and often modifications. No two autistic children are the same. Some (what we used to call aspergers) are high enough functioning to hold gainful employment and a high quality of life. Others, not so much. Autism is not something anyone should wish for or want. We need to take care of our autistic citizens who need public support, but if we can scientifically find a way to mitigate the prevalence of autism, then we should.
