Again, you raise great points, and I won't argue that our runaway capitalist system is creating warped views on what a life well lived actually means (acquisition vs. family time, etc.), but all of our brains have been affected and to some degree poisoned by social media. Or at least skewed. Poisoned is a better word, when you think about the imbeciles who attacked the capital on January 6th or the true morons who actually showed up in Dallas recently waiting for the arrival of JFK Jr. You used to have to do some leg work to start a cult and brainwash people. But thanks to phones--really social media--the lonely and disaffected can join forces much more readily. Now, you can blame the isolating forces of capitalism as its root cause, but you can't deny the fact that every single decadent itch we have as humans can now be scratched every time we log onto our phones. And that's a HUGE problem. It's a disease.
